Artist-author Marina Delaney discusses the creation of her book, Portraits and Profiles of Ulysses, published by the Ulysses Historical Society with support from a grant from the Nelson B. Delavan Foundation. In this talk, Delaney will trace the evolution of her project from a small collection of portrait prints to a full-scale exhibition at the Ulysses Philomathic Library in Trumansburg, and then to a book featuring twenty-four biographies paired with her art. Through both slides and the original works, Delaney will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process and explore the intersection between portraiture, biography, and the stories that shape a community.
